Kevin D. Gawley
 
 

Kevin’s critical acclaim includes seven Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations and two Jeff Awards for The Island of Dr. Moreau and Jane Eyre, and an After Dark Award for Strong Poison. Recently, Kevin was awarded the National Outstanding Lighting Design Achievement Award by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for 2017.  Kevin’s lighting for CU Ballet’s Nutcracker is showcased on the 2017 Rosebrand Catalog cover.  Kevin was the theatrical lighting designer on the feature film, Were the World Mine.  His work also appeared in numerous productions at the Bailiwick, Organic, Porchlight, OperaModa, Blindfaith, Theatre on the Lake, Metropolis, Champaign Urbana Ballet, StoreFront, Loyola University Chicago, Revels Chicago, Midwest Jewish, Taylor University and at the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival theatres.  Kevin is the Resident Scenic, Projection, and Lighting Designer at the University of Louisville, and was previously the Associate Professor of Scenic and Lighting Design at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and has taught Lighting Design and Technology courses at Loyola University Chicago and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Kevin holds an MFA and BFA in Lighting Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
